Hi Young Ones and families,
I have been working with the director and production team for SPACi's upcoming stage production of SPAMALOT and have arranged for Young Ones to participate if they want to. The arrangement is that younger performers can add into the show for some minor parts - bodies on the cart and minstrels - they will have 1 song to sing (Brave Sir Robin) that we will learn in Young Ones (add it into our book of songs).
Attached is the rehearsal and show dates - highlighted in yellow are the dates that Young Ones would need to attend rehearsals to be a part of the show - please check your availability for these dates before getting on board to be a part of this show. rehearsals times are Sunday's 1.30-3.30 pm, Tuesdays and Thursdays 7.30-9.30 pm.
This will be a fun and rewarding activity for Young Ones and with this arrangement we have minimised the boring bits and linked Young Ones in at the stage where they can really have fun learning a few key scenes and a songs, dressing up and being a part of a bigger production. For minor parts rehearsals are often a lot of sitting around and waiting which is hard for younger performers and yes the rehearsals are long and on week nights too and this is why I have arranged a reduced participation option for Young Ones so they can have fun being a part of a bigger production.
A big production is lots of fun, costumes, make-up, being a part of a bigger cast, seeing how it all works. I hope you are able to join in. If so - please attend the first required rehearsal on Sunday 28 August.
If you have any questions please do not hesitate to give me a call or catch me after a Young Ones session for a chat.

A fun opportunity to perform some of our repertoire (just a fancy name for some of our songs)
It is fun to sing in different styles and the next Stawell Performing Arts Company Take the Stage is themed Classical, Traditional and Folk. This is not restrictive or prescriptive, it just means songs that would fit together in that theme.
The SPACi Come and Sing group are working on an Irish folk song - She Moved Through the Fair and a renascence cannon Ah Robin Gentle Robin. I am bringing back to life one of my grade 6 exam pieces, an Italian aria, Se Florindo e Fedele - just for fun (actually working quite hard, practicing daily, as I do not sing in Italian very much any more). Individual students are testing out other traditional songs such as I've Been Working on the Railroad, Lavenders Blue, De Colores, art songs about the sun, moon and stars and some other fun songs that fit with the idea of the theme if not strictly classical or folk.
Performing is an important part of developing our singing and it is also really nice to share our music with family and friends.
I hope to see you there to perform or to enjoy.
Have fun singing
